According to a tweet from Adam Vingan, a Nashville Predators beat reporter for The Tennessean, every NHL All-Star will receive a personalized Gibson guitar.

The pictured guitar above is for the Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne. And if the guitar was not enough, you can see there are a number of other “goodies” in the image as well that is rumored to be a part of the players’ gift package at this year’s NHL All-Star Game. One that stands out appears to be a bottle of whiskey.

What symbolizes “Nashville” better than a Gibson guitar and a bottle of whiskey?

Nothing that I can think of.

Although at first hockey players and guitars don’t seem to make a lot of sense, there have been a few players who have been known to “rock out.” One that comes to mind is New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist who played guitar for a Swedish rock band called Box Play. More notably, Lundqvist appeared on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” back in 2013 where he played the solo from Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

Seriously, is this Slash or Lundqvist?

Obviously, that’s a rhetorical question, but you can’t deny his talent on the axe.

The 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30. There will be six events that will showcase the league’s premiere talent including fastest skater, breakaway challenge, accuracy shooting, skills challenge relay, hardest shot, and the shootout.

Perhaps the NHL should consider adding a seventh challenge to find out which all-stars possess the most skill on their new Gibsons. Luckily for everyone, Lundqvist did not make the cut this season, so that challenge would be up for the taking.

Who knows? Maybe we could discover the next Slash in the process.
